In episode 619 of the WTF Podcast with Marc Maron, The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, talks about his optimistic plan for the end of the zombie apocalypse.
Discussing other zombie films, Kirkman explained, “They never solve it.” He goes on to lament, “At the end of every movie, they’re like ‘The world is covered in zombies, and we’re out of time, so see ya later!’”
Kirkman sees a different outcome for The Walking Dead: “I hope ‘The Walking Dead’ goes on long enough that at the end, everyone is like, ‘Good thing we took care of those zombies!’”
The Walking Dead fans all remember how in Season 1, Episode 5, “Wildfire,” the survivors reach the Center for Disease Control in Atlanta, hopeful that someone had discovered a cure, only to discover that the only remaining scientist, Dr. Edwin Jenner, had lost all hope after learning that all humans were infected!
