Which Comic Character Will Merritt Wever Play in Season 6?

During The Walking Dead panel at San Diego Comic Con last week, show runner Scott Gimple announced that Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie) will join the cast of Season 6 of The Walking Dead. Also announced was news that Wever would play a prominent character from The Walking Dead comic book series. Unfortunately, Gimple did not specify which character Wever would play, so fans are left to speculate until more details are available.

This obviously leaves the door open for us to speculate! Based on what we know about the series, as well as where it is headed, we can safely assume that Wever will likely play a well-known character from the Alexandria Safe Zone. So who exactly might that be?

With the recent announcement that Corey Hawkins will play comic character Heath, the most likely comic candidate would be Dr. Denise Cloyd. Cloyd is one of three doctors in the ASZ, and is also known for her developing sexual relationship with Heath. She also plays a large role in the No Way Out story arch, which, based on the trailer, appears to be a main focal point in Season 6.

So is there any supporting data to back up our claim? Well, if you slow down the frames in the Season 6 trailer, you catch a MERE glimpse at who we are assuming is Wever in a “medical” type setting. And guess what? She is rocking Dr. Cloyd’s signature glasses. Proof enough? Check out the screen grab below:
