The Walking Dead: World Beyond Gets An End Date… Before It Even Begins

The Walking Dead: World Beyond, the second spinoff series from The Walking Dead, will premiere on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at 10 PM Eastern after The Walking Dead season 10 finale.  In a shocking turn of events, AMC not only announced when the new show will premiere, but when it will end, as well.

According to sources, World Beyond is a limited series. Speaking to reporters last week at the Television Critics Assoc., AMC president Sarah Barnett said the franchise’s third series (following The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead) would not imitate its predecessors “in substance or form,” before announcing, “World Beyond is a two-season closed-ended series that will tell a very specific and distinct story.” In total, the show will consist of 20 episodes – 1o per season.

The show puts a new spin on the classic, choosing to focus on ten years after the Apocalypse. It will revolve around a pair of young women played by Alexa Mansour (The Resident) and Aliyah Royale (The Red Line). The official synopsis reads:

The Walking Dead: World Beyond expands the universe of The Walking Dead, delving into a new mythology and story that follows the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers, known and unknown, living and undead on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. But all of them will find the truths they seek.
