The Walking Dead is known for their shocking deaths. But no other death will shock you more than this one.
In some rather crazy news coming out of Atlanta during the filming of Season 9 of AMC’s The Walking Dead, it’s being reported that none other than Rick Grimes will be leaving the show. According to sources close to the actor, Andrew Lincoln has decided to call it quits, allegedly only signing on for six episodes in Season 9.
According to Collider.com, who was first to report this news, Norman Reedus was offered a substantial amount of money to take on the lead role of the show. The Daily Mail is suggesting that pay increase could be as high as $20 million.
While fans have been quick to shake this off as #fakenews, reliable sources close to the action are saying this news is 100% accurate and that AMC will be releasing an official statement shortly.
This announcement comes after months of speculation that Lauren Cohan, who plays Maggie Rhee on the show, would also be leaving to lead a new Fall series on ABC called Whiskey Cavalier. She is reported to only be signed on for six episodes in Season 9 of The Walking Dead, as well.
What could this mean for the future of The Walking Dead? Can The Walking Dead really survive without Andrew Lincoln? What does The Walking Dead look like with Norman Reedus in the lead role?
