Will Two Characters Die in the S7 Premiere of The Walking Dead?

Warning: spoilers for The Walking Dead comics and television series.

It’s been two months since The Walking Dead concluded its sixth season and fans have been frothing at the mouth trying to score any details surrounding the much anticipated Season 7 premiere. While not much has been happening in terms of news surrounding the series, other than, ya know, threats of lawsuits and stuff, photos from the set have revealed some interesting details and possible story lines to come.

The most obvious question at the moment is who met their demise at the end of Season 6? Many fans assume that only one character will die in the premiere, per the source material. But what if The Walking Dead throws us a curve ball and Negan kills two of our beloved characters?

In Issue 100 of the comic books, Glenn dies at the hands of Negan upon their first introduction. Alternatively, Abraham is killed by Dwight only a few issues prior – Dr. Denise received Abraham’s comic death in the television series prior to the Season 6 finale. As of now, both of these characters were involved in the line-up but can only be presumed alive since, well, we didn’t actually get to see who dies.

Yes, yes. Before you get your panties in a bunch, we are well aware the show doesn’t always follow the comic book series. However, with Season 6’s serious lack of major character deaths, who’s to say they won’t start off with a bang in Season 7? After all, they do need to try to justify that shit stain of a cliffhanger.

So what evidence is there that both Abraham and Glenn are killed in Episode 1 of Season 7?

For starters, neither have been seen on set since Episode 1 was filmed. Most people are aware by now that Glenn’s actor Steven Yeun has been in South Korea over the last few weeks filming a movie. Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham, has also been absent, although his whereabouts are unknown.

Cudlitz recently posted an Instagram “family portrait” of himself, Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), Josh McDermitt (Eugene), and Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes) in full costume only a few days ago. This led many to wonder whether this was an old photo or from this season’s filming. However, if you look back, you’ll find a similar photo from 11 weeks ago of him and Lincoln filming in the RV. It appears that these two photos were taken at the same time.

Photos of Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) have also surfaced of the actor rocking prison-style garments instead of his traditional angel wing vest. While this should provide some relief for Dixon fan boys and girls that Daryl wasn’t the Lucille victim, it makes you wonder how this came to be.

It was reported last week that Sonequa Martin-Green and Lauren Cohan (Maggie) were both seen on The Hilltop set. In the comics, Maggie continues on to The Hilltop after Glenn’s death.

So, what exactly does this all mean?

Well, theories are circling that Glenn will be the character initially killed by Negan in the Season 7 premiere. Because Abraham hasn’t been seen either since Ep. 1 filming, fans are beginning to theorize that he will also be killed. Some people are speculating that Daryl might do something that results in the death of a second character – e.g. trying to defend the person initially killed – and subsequently is taken prisoner by Negan and The Saviors.

Sasha and Maggie arriving at The Hilltop together could suggest that both of their beaus get the beat down.
