Warning: this post contains major spoilers for The Walking Dead Season 6 finale. You have been warned.
If you’ve been following all of the rumors, spoilers, and speculations regarding the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead, your head is probably spinning at this point. There have already been grumblings of a cliffhanger ending to the season, which was further propelled by leaked audio of Negan’s introduction.
As the rumors go, audio evidence from the finale seems to suggest that fans won’t see who dies at the hands of Negan. The Spoiling Dead Fans have already provided a breakdown of the death scene on their website:
When he [Negan] does the eenie meenie it quickly cuts to his bat being pointed at different people then just as he says “YOU ARE” it shows Rick looking worried. Then it points to a PoV of the person being picked…”IT” then he swings, the camera goes down to the ground then it comes back up to Negan, who says, “Taking it like a champ.” Blood pours down the screen. Goes black and the screaming and bat gutting carries on.
It’s then suggested that the credits roll and that’s the end of the season. Uh, what? A cliffhanger for the biggest moment in the comic book’s history? So we won’t find out who dies until Season 7?
Alas, there is hope. Some The Walking Dead conspiracy theorists have noticed on their TV guides that the episode is scheduled from 9:00 PM to 10:33 PM. We already know that the episode was extended to 90-minutes, but what about that added 3 minutes at the end?
Some fans are suggesting that the added 3-minutes is the part of the episode that wasn’t included in media screeners and Emmy award submissions. We already know that AMC has been cracking down on spoilers, most recently when the finale audio leaked. So it would make sense that if they were trying to avoid leaks, they would not include that scene altogether.
What could this mean for the finale exactly? Well, fans have been pretty pissed by the idea of a cliffhanger. It appears that this added 3-minutes could essentially make or break this season – and in some cases, fans’ opinion of the show.
Are you pissed by the idea of a cliffhanger? Could this 3-minutes save the finale? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below.
