To the excitement of millions of fans across the world, it was announced today that AMC and The Walking Dead has found its Negan. This morning it was released that Jeffrey Dean Morgan would assume the role of The Walking Dead comic’s most villainous character to date.
This news comes shortly after a casting call was released for a character by the name of “Orin” that sounded very similar to Negan. Evidently, Morgan was at least one of four actors heavily considered for the role. We would be interested to know which other actors were also considered; however, it’s unlikely this will ever be released.
It’s been confirmed that the character will be introduced in the Season 6 finale, which will be directed by Greg Nicotero. Negan leads a group known as the Saviors and utilizes a barb-wire bat named Lucille to bring death and despair to his enemies. In the comic books, Negan’s arrival is marked by the death of one of the original Atlanta survivors, Glenn. But seeing as Glenn may or may not be alive in the show, which character could suffer a similar fate on the show?
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has played many television and film roles over his lifetime – starring in big name shows like Extant, The Good Wife, Supernatural, and Grey’s Anatomy. Morgan is no stranger to comic book adaptations, as the actor will play Thomas Wayne in the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice movie. He also starred in Watchmen, which is based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel.
What do you guys think of this casting announcement? Personally, we are pretty stoked. Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!
