At the end of August, The Walking Dead posted a casting call for a character described as “Rich, … narcissistic, egotistical, quick to braggadocio and anger, his own skin is his principal concern. He feeds off the superiority of being in control, but he plays it off with Senator-like charm. He’s vibrant and has the charisma of a car salesman.”
Lots of speculation surrounded the search, with many believing the character would be Negan, leader of the Saviors. The description and timing of this casting call made us at TWDEnthusiasts.com believe it was more likely for Gregory, the nefarious leader of The Hilltop Colony.
Last week it was announced by TVLine that Xander Berkeley, of 24 fame, had been cast in a recurring role, and that his contract includes an option to become a series regular in Season 7. While the actual character he will portray has not been verified, there are similarities between Berkeley’s and Gregory’s appearances.
Add these similarities to the more recent casting call for the character we are almost certain will be Negan, and it is without a doubt Berkeley will play Gregory.
Are you excited to see the leader of The Hilltop make his first appearance in Season 6? Was Gregory well cast with Berkeley, or would you have preferred a different actor? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below.
