An advanced screening of The Walking Dead has never before been open to fans. The show’s network home, AMC, however, has announced that this year, that will change. Thousands of fans will win the Fan Premiere Sweepstakes, and be invited to watch the show’s Season 6 premiere at Madison Square Garden on October 9 – two days before the official premiere, as part of New York Super Week.
As AMC and Sundance president Charlie Collier explained on Wednesday, August 12, “An evening that is typically reserved for cast, crew, and industry will now include the fans. Loyal, passionate fans are responsible for making The Walking Dead the #1 show on television and this is an exciting opportunity for us to thank them in person.”
In addition to the Season 6 advanced screening, winners of the Fan Premiere Sweepstakes will also get to attend a panel discussion with 18 members of the show’s cast.
Fans can enter the sweepstakes at http://www.amc.com/shows/the-walking-dead/exclusives/fanpremieresweepstakes every day from now through September 16. The network will pick 10 winners each day who will receive a pair of tickets to the advanced screening and panel discussion.
New York Super Week, a week-long pop culture festival, will also be giving away tickets beginning August 17, but the details of these giveaways have not yet been released. Details will be added to the event website, www.NewYorkSuperWeek.com, on August 17.
The 90-minute Season 6 premiere of The Walking Dead will air at 9 p.m., eastern, October 11, on AMC.
