Seth Gilliam (Father Gabriel Stokes) must have been sneaking a few extra sips of the sacramental wine on Sunday night. The Wire alum and current The Walking Dead cast member was arrested in Peachtree City, Georgia on May 3. Gilliam was driving at speeds of more than 100 miles per hour when he was pulled over at approximately 2:12 a.m.
During the traffic stop, officers reported smelling alcohol on Gilliam’s breath and found a doobie inside his cigarette pack. Gilliam registered a blood alcohol reading of .107, and informed officers that he only consumed three beers and one shot of alcohol. Gilliam was charged with speeding, reckless driving, DUI alcohol and misdemeanor marijuana.
Seth Gilliam isn’t the first The Walking Dead actor to get caught partying a little too hard. Scott Wilson (Hershel Green) had his run-ins with the law during his stint on the show. In August of 2012, he was arrested for DUI in Peachtree City, GA after an extended evening of drinking scotch and wine at a restaurant. Reportedly, he was so bombed he requested to do yoga poses instead of the field sobriety test. Such irony for two characters considered to be the “moral compasses” of The Walking Dead.
The news of Gilliam’s arrest comes shortly after TMZ released a video of Chad L. Coleman (Tyreese) having an utter meltdown on a New York City subway when another passenger made a racist remark towards him. Coleman has since apologized for his actions, but stands by his remarks as testament for the race issues The United States is currently facing. You can check out the full video of Coleman below:
