Whenever a television series gets popular, fans immediately start to speculate whether a movie based on the franchise is in the works. To further propel the stigma, Robert Kirkman’s recent deal with Universal Pictures and Skybound Entertainment isn’t exactly helping the matter. For a series that has essentially “done it all” (e.g. toys, video games, companion series, comic books, novels, etc.), one is left to ask – what’s next?
Is it possible that The Walking Dead could be coming to the big screen sometime in the near future? Only time will tell, but Andrew Lincoln seems to be on board if and when the time comes. In a recent interview with Inquirer, Mr. Grimes himself said, “That would be amazing.”
Evidently, the idea for a The Walking Dead movie is up for discussion. “It’s something we’ve been talking about and dreamt of because it would be cool to see some snow. We were all going, just not to have to film in Atlanta where it gets to 100 degrees!” Lincoln continued, “What would be amazing is that you can play with form, time and chronology, and maybe also rediscover characters who are no longer in the show. Certainly, with that format, you can do something very interesting and ambitious.”
How would fans of the franchise react? Would they view this as a “selling out” of sorts? Is it possible for The Walking Dead or Robert Kirkman to sell out at this point? Vote in our poll below and tell us whether you would want to see The Walking Dead: The Movie.
