The Walking Dead Comics Heading to Uncharted Territory in Issue #139?

Holy crap! TheWalkingDead.com just released two new covers for Issues #138 and #139 of The Walking Dead. The cover for Issue 138 seems to imply that The Whisperers storyline is still occurring; however, 138 marks the official end of the “A New Beginning” arch. Will The Whisperers make it past Issue 138, or will they meet a relatively early demise?

We have a feeling that The Whisperers storyline will be wrapped up relatively soon – especially since we have yet to see any of Michonne or the remaining Saviors since the time-hop. There is a lot of story to tell, and fans are itching to find out what’s been going on with Michonne since the end of All Out War.

That brings us to the cover for Issue 139, which is even MORE tantalizing. The issue is dubbed “From the Edge of the World” – and from the looks of it, The Walking Dead universe is about to get a whole lot bigger. Has Rick Grimes established trade routes with other states or countries? Those do look a bit like Asian-style sails, but there are also a number of newer looking luxury boats. Alexandria, Virginia is located on the banks of the Potomac River, which connects to countless other waterways, as well as the Atlantic Ocean – so the possibilities are endless!

Even better news for fans of The Walking Dead comic book series – March 2015 will be a double-release month!

Maybe Machonne is the one sailing back on that boat? She could have been sent on a mission to do something requiring a long trip via sea. All the time they had for a gap gives a lot of possible options. Would seem odd to kill off all of the Whisperers in only 1 single issue. Think they might still have somebody hostage if remember right. Stands to reason they would have a rather big group or a few groups to exist this long. Maybe each has a herd or its own, usually it was groups of two if recall my reading or more. Unlikely they talk peace then establish peace between the two in only 1 issue though ;). Negan could get rescued by them, have his balls grow back to what we all know ;). Carl got more than most this V-Day so hard to feel too bad. Maggie probably will live since Monroe sees her drop while the guy is taunting her. Toss out the trailer trash along w/ their kids to live w/ the Whisperers ;).
