Bullshit Alert: Walking Dead Companion Series to Film in Pennsylvania in December?

This is a developing story. We’ve reached out to Gale Anne Hurd, Executive Producer of The Walking Dead, to confirm whether this is a legit casting call. Additionally, we submitted an inquiry to the Craigslist add for more information. We will update this post with additional details as they become available.

UPDATE #1: 12/1/2014

As of today, all but 2 of the original Craigslist ads have been pulled from Craigslist.

Update #2: 12/1/2014

As of 6PM EST, all Craigslist ads have been removed and/or flagged from Craigslist.

Additionally, new details about the supposed “The Walking Dead” companion series casting call in Bucks County, PA have emerged. We received a number of emails from people looking to determine the legitimacy of the “audition”. Fortunately, enough people provided us emails to compare them all and determine that this is likely a scam by It Factor Productions.

In the emails provided to TWDEnthusiasts.com, Tina, the Director of Talent Services at It Factor Productions, reached out to inform hopefuls that the casting directors “really loved your look” and would be “interested in auditioning you for some extra work or possibly a principal role.” Oh boy, lucky you!!

When you do a little digging about the company, the reviews are less than stellar – most reviews claim that the company tries to get you to pay hundreds, even thousands of dollars, before you ever get cast.

Here is the full transcript of the email, so you can compare the email you received with the email everyone in the Bucks County, PA area received:

With all of this being said, it’s pretty clear that this is a scam by It Factor Productions to garner money from unsuspecting fans of The Walking Dead franchise – kudos to them for drawing the attention. While we can not 100% confirm the legitimacy of this casting call, there are many red flags to consider before wasting your time going to this “audition”:

  • Everyone who applied is receiving the exact same email from “Tina”
  • Would AMC/The Walking Dead really be casting for a show a WEEK before they are set to start shooting? Has The Walking Dead ever had open castings for “principal roles”?
  • All Craigslist ads have been either flagged or removed, which tells us that AMC likely caught on and threw the lawyers at them.

If you did apply for this casting call, and decide to go in for the interview, email us with your experience at thewalkingdeadenthusiasts@gmail.com.

The comic goes on to explore the challenges of life in a world overrun by zombies who take a toll on the survivors, and sometimes the interpersonal conflicts present a greater danger to their continuing survival than the zombies that roam the country. What a cruel thing to do for acting hopefuls, like me. I, too, got the letter…damned near to the T, compared to the one above; the only difference is the “audition” dates are 12/3 and 12/4…everything else is completely the same. Sonsabitches, they are!!!!

  • Erin Kelly Booth

By the way…thank you for checking this out and showing what it truly is…a SCAM, by no other name!!!

got an email with the same exact template… thought it was legit tried calling and nobody answered. looked it up on the internet and saw how bad the companies reviews were and how much of a scam they are. from what i’ve read whats interesting is that the company is an actual place and do have real auditions however they are supposedly very rude and try to scam you after auditions. not sure how they exist running a company that way. lame
