The countdown to Christmas has begun! Because of the popularity of AMC’s hit television series The Walking Dead, there is an ever-growing list of gift ideas to fill any zombie lover’s Christmas wishlist.
We at The Walking Dead Enthusiasts Podcast thought it would be a great idea to provide 25 unique The Walking Dead inspired gift ideas throughout the month of December. We will be releasing one gift idea over the next 25 days leading up to Christmas.
The best part: many of these gifts are available through Amazon Prime, so even the most procrastinating gift buyer (like myself) can easily purchase gifts for family or friends and ensure they will arrive by the holidays. Lets get started!
#1: The Walking Dead Season 1, 2, 3 and 4 on Special Edition Blu-ray or DVD
What better way to acknowledge a fan’s true obsession than by getting them every available season of their favorite television series.
Product overview: Based on the comic book series of the same name, The Walking Dead tells the story of a small group of survivors living in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse. The first season mostly takes place in the Atlanta metropolitan area and then the surrounding countryside of northern Georgia in the second through fourth seasons, as the survivors search for a safe haven away from the shuffling hordes of predatory “walkers” or “biters” (as the zombies are referred to in the show), who devour any living thing they catch, and whose bite is infectious to humans. The plot focuses primarily on the dilemmas the group faces as they struggle to maintain their humanity during the day-to-day challenges of surviving in a hostile world. This includes battling the zombie hordes; coping with casualties; and dealing with predatory human survivors.
#2: The Walking Dead Comic Book Series: Compendium 1 and Compendium 2
No one is a true “fan” of The Walking Dead until they’ve read the entire comic book series. Currently, the comics are on Issue #117 but the compendiums will keep you plenty busy through the winter hiatus.
Product Overview: Introducing the first eight volumes of the fan-favorite, New York Times Best Seller series collected into one massive paperback collection! Collects The Walking Dead #1-48. This is the perfect collection for any fan of the Emmy Award-winning television series on AMC: over one thousand pages chronicling the beginning of Robert Kirkman”s Eisner Award-winning continuing story of survival horror- from Rick Grimes” waking up alone in a hospital, to him and his family seeking solace on Hershel”s farm, and the controversial introduction of Woodbury despot: The Governor. In a world ruled by the dead, we are finally forced to finally start living. The 2nd Compendium covers The Walking Dead #49-96; chronicling Rick’s struggle to survive after the prison raid, discovery of The Community, and the devastation that follows.
#3: The Walking Dead: Rise of The Governor, Road to Woodbury, Fall of The Governor: Part 1, & Fall of The Governor: Part 2
After you finish those comic books, you can start reading The Walking Dead novels based solely on The Governor’s rise to power. I’ve only actually read the first book, but I’ve heard the others are equally as good! If you’re fans of The Walking Dead universe, your collection is not complete without owning the biography of the comics most hated villain.
Product Overview: In the Walking Dead universe, there is no greater villain than The Governor. The despot who runs the walled-off town of Woodbury, he has his own sick sense of justice: whether it’s forcing prisoners to battle zombies in an arena for the townspeople’s amusement, or chopping off the appendages of those who cross him. The Governor was voted “Villain of the Year” by Wizard magazine the year he debuted, and his story arc was the most controversial in the history of the Walking Dead comic book series. Now, for the first time, fans of The Walking Dead will discover how The Governor became the man he is, and what drove him to such extremes.
#4: The Walking Dead Monopoly Survival Edition Game and The Walking Dead Risk: Survival Edition
Does anyone even play board games anymore? Probably not, but for avid collectors these Walking Dead versions of your favorite games are the perfect gift. Majority of fans don’t even know these exist, so they’re sure to be a surprise.
Product Overview: Despite its post-apocalyptic setting, Monopoly: Walking Dead “Survival Edition” delivers classic Monopoly wheeling and dealing game play. Players vie for and must then fortify, the prime real estate and resources that will sustain their lives. There’s only one victor that will outlast the others – whether living or undead – when all is said and done. This completely customized game features 6 collectible Walking Dead-themed tokens, optional speed play and a fight to the finish.
Risk: Walking Dead “Survival Edition” represents a fun, new twist on classic Risk game play. USAopoly is proud to debut a brand new map set in the southeast region of the United States where players battle and scavenge for their very lives. Contending for survival at every turn, gamers must not only fend off attacks from the living who compete for precious, limited resources upon which their survival depends, but they also must maintain their self-preservation from the unrelenting hordes of the undead that would feast upon them. A new deck of “Supply Cards” add strategy, fun and flavor to this classic tabletop game. Gamers can expect a fast-paced game of attrition and survival, where the last man standing wins Ages 13+; 3-5 players.
#5: Emily Kinney: Expired Love
Not only is Emily Kinney a talented actress on The Walking Dead, she is also quite the musician/singer. Check out her latest album entitled “Expired Love” – maybe a reference to the recent death of her television father? Probably not.
#6: The Walking Dead Best Defense Television Board Game
Another board game but this time it was developed solely on the television series, not an existing game. Battle walkers as one of your favorite characters from AMC’s hit television series. I’ve played a version of this game with friends and it’s the perfect game for a beer and game night!
Product Overview: The Best Defense is a cooperative board game in which players take on the roles of Rick, Glenn, Daryl, Michonne and other characters. The Survivors must defend four key locations from Walkers – the Farm, the Prison, the Town and the Highway – in order to stay alive. The game board is assembled at random for each game, providing for variability in the locations; a 25-card resource deck – containing either Equipment, Allies, Food or Ammunition – is placed at random on one of the locations. Each player character has a unique leadership ability that provides a bonus while that character is in charge.
#7: The Walking Dead Comic Board Game from Z-Man Games
This is very similar to the television-based board game; however, it was developed around the comic book series. Between the two different board games, I’d probably go with this one since the comic books are way better than the show – ha!
Product Overview: The Walking Dead: The Board Game from Z-Man Games transforms the Robert Kirkman comic book series into a board game, giving “fans the opportunity to play Rick, Shane, Andrea, and other favorite The Walking Dead characters as they deal with zombies, collect supplies and pick up the pieces of their lives”, according to a press release announcing the game. Encounter and location cards recreate scenes and events from the comic book series.
#8: The Walking Dead: Original Soundtrack: Volume 1
One of the best aspects of The Walking dead is the music selection. Now you can have all your favorite The Walking Dead soundtracks on CD or MP3!
Showcasing music featured on the Emmy Award-winning AMC series, this collection proves essential listening for viewers and zombie enthusiasts everywhere. Fans who pre-order the soundtrack will instantly receive a download of Jamie N Commons’ “Lead Me Home.” In addition, the compilation includes previously unreleased material including “Sinking Man” from multiplatinum-selling Icelandic alternative folk sensation Of Monsters and Men, an UNKLE remix of composer Bear McCreary’s “Main Title Theme Song,” Delta Spirit’s “Running” and more. Just like the show, the soundtrack remains a dynamic powerhouse replete with unforgettable moments.
#9: The Walking Dead Game: Game of the Year Edition
If you could only buy one item on this entire list, it should be this game. The Walking Dead Game is easily one of the BEST video games I’ve ever played – for both the in-game play and the storyline. This game has won countless awards and it surely deserves the nod. Order this game today. No, right now. Do it.
Product Overview: Winner of over 90 ‘Game of the Year’ Awards, The Walking Dead Complete First Season includes all 5 episodes of the critically acclaimed series, plus special episode ‘400 Days’. Play as Lee Everett, who has been given a second chance at life in a world devastated by the undead. Experience events, meet people and visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. Each move matters in this tailored game experience, as your actions, choices and decisions affect how your story plays out across the entire series.
