Spoiler sites around the web, as well as our own TWD insider “Sophia’s Babydoll”, are reporting that three new recurring characters are currently being cast for Season 4 of The Walking Dead. Character descriptions are as follows:
John Tyler – In his early 30’s, John Tyler is said to be “vulgar with rough edges,” but if you can look past that he’s also wise.
Wayne Kesey – Also in his early 30’s, Wayne Kesey is very smart … but unfortunately also an “experienced liar.”
Jordana Barraza – In her late 20’s, Jordana Barraza is a tough and beautiful Hispanic woman who is “shamed about her past.”
As most of us know, Scott Gimple, the new showrunner for The Walking Dead, has not shied away from promising more story lines adapted from the graphic novel. And with the announcement of this casting call, fans can’t help but speculate if these three characters are none other than Sgt. Abraham Ford, Dr. Eugene Porter and Rosita Espinosa.
If you remember correctly, the recent casting call for “Roy Stark” (now known to be his own standalone character named Bob Stookey played by The Wire’s Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) sent shock waves through The Walking Dead universe when most assumed the character description described Sgt. Abraham Ford. Now we officially know this was not the case.
But these new characters seem a little young to be playing Eugene or Abraham, as they were much older than “early 30s” in the comic. Additionally, these are only recurring roles, and three MAJOR comic book characters would surely be series regulars (unless they’re introduced at the very end of Season 4).
We’d also like to speculate that these three recurring characters could be a few of The Hunters – e.g. the cannibals from The Walking Dead comic book series – which would also be in line with the current pace of the show.
What do you think of this new casting announcement? Would you be excited to see Abraham, Eugene and Rosita incorporated this early into the show? Or do you think this is another hasty speculation by fans? Sound off below.
